How to decorate you puja room for Varamahalakshmi 2021
Varamahalakshmi is celebrated by married women in order to commemorate the Goddess Mahalakshmi.
Just like any puja, varamahalakshmi also has a certain set of rituals that need to be performed. Idol of Goddess Lakshmi
This is obviously the most important item for this festival. Either the idol or the face of Goddess Lakshmi is seated in a puja room or a mantapa, where the other decorative items are placed on or around Goddess Lakshmi.
Mantapa
The puja mantapa is usually decorated with rangoli on all sides, sometimes mango leaves or plantain plants are put on the pillars of the mantapa as well to further beautify the mantapa where the Goddess Mahalakshmi is seated.
Coconut Face Decoration
One of the most important decorations for varamahalakshmi is decorating a coconut. Coconut is considered an auspicious fruit which is usually why it is used in almost every festival or puja. This is done by removing the fibers on it, applying a paste of turmeric powder and water all over and finally applying kumkuma in between the eyes of the coconut.
Kalasa/Silver pot
In a plate, a plantain leaf is laid out and one cup of rice is put over the leaf and spread out evenly. The kalasa is decorated with kumkuma and sandalwood. Inside the pot, coins, turmeric, betel leaf, rice or water is filled.
Garlands
